Robert Henry Lamer was born on March 27, 1924, at Milestone, Canada, the son of Edward and Blanche Rockwell Lamer. As a child the family moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa, and he graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1942. In March of 1943, he began his career in the military and served his country until 1975. After retiring from the service, he lived a short time in Omaha, Nebraska, and then returned to Eagle Grove.

Robert H. Lamer died Sunday, April 14, 1996, at the V. A. Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 72. Survivors include two sisters, Cora O'Conner, Des Moines, and Geraldine Luke, Fort Dodge; and three brothers, Emmett and Claude Lamer, both of Eagle Grove, and John Lamer, Hemet, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Louise and Frances.

Memorial Services were held on Thursday morning, April 18, 1996, at the Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Reverend Neil Hayen of Mt. Calvary Evangelical Lutheran Church officiated. Inurnment was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
