August 17, 1892 ---- September 6, 1982

Herman R. Harvey, the son of Narvey and Karen Jenson Harvey, was born on a farm in Wright County near Goldfield, Iowa on Aug. 17, 1892. He grew up and attended the area rural schools. On June 20, 1921, he was united in marriage with Esther Gangestad at the home of her parents in Humboldt County. The couple made their home on a farm across the road from the farm where Herman was born. To this union were born five children, Elmer, Raynard, Grace, Donald, and Roger. Mr. Harvey dedicated his life to his God, his family and farming. He was a life-long member of the Lake Lutheran Church and was a charter member of the Farm Bureau. He had lived on the same farm for over 60 years. Mr. Harvey died on Monday morning, Sept. 6, 1982, at the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove, where he had been a resident since April, 1982. He attained the age of 90 years, and 20 days.

He is survived by his wife, Esther, of rural Goldfield; a daughter, Grace and her husband, Dr. Robert Morris of Storm Lake; four sons and daughters-in-law, Elmer and Valborg Harvey of Webster City; Raynard and Maxine Harvey of Sheffield; Donald and Charlene Harvey of Livermore; Roger and Ellen Harvey of Badger, Iowa; sixteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, and their husbands; Alma, Mrs. Carl McConeghey of Knoxville; Norma, Mrs. George Sprague III of Forest Hill, Maryland; Gladys, Mrs. Magne Bjorklund of Goldfield; a brother, Edwin Harvey of Vandalia, Mo. and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mrs. Agnes Stevick and one brother, Archie Harvey.

Funeral services for Herman R. Harvey, 90, of rural Goldfield, were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 9, 1982, at the Lake Lutheran Church of Renwick. Rev. Oliver Everson and Rev. Owen Gangstead officiated and burial was in the family lot at the Lake Lutheran, Cemetery. Visitation was held on Wednesday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.
