March 8, 1954 ---- August 4, 2005

Laura Garcia Thompson, 51, of Cupertino, Calif., died Thursday, August 4 after a determined battle with ovarian cancer. Services were held at 1 p.m. on Monday, August 8, 2005, at the Los Altos United Methodist Church.

Laura Garcia Thompson was born March 8, 1954, she did not go gently into the good night, but fought with the passion and compassion that characterized her life - joking and telling stories through her own pain to comfort her constant stream of visitors. Laura always remembered friends' personal details and family relationships, but more than that, -she learned their "essence" - the soulful part of people. She loved the ocean from her early days in San Diego and found therapy in cooking for friends.

Laura believed that "Love is being married to your best friend," and she married Kevin Thompson on March 22, 1992. Their daughter Savannah was born in 1994 and there is nothing in her life that made Laura happier, and for which she was more suited, than motherhood.
