Floyd Lenning, 87, of Eagle Grove, died Monday, August 8, 2005, at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove where he had been a resident for the past four years. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, August 10,2005, at the
Ullensvang Lutheran Church in Thor with Pastor Herbert Schiller officiating. Burial was in the East Ullensvang Cemetery in Thor.

Floyd Archie Lenning was born July 4, 1918 in Thor, Iowa, the son of Hans and Tena (Anderson) Lenning. He graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1935. Following graduation Floyd suited farming with his father and brother. He then served
in the United States Army Air Force during World war II. After being shot down, Floyd was a prisoner of war from October 1943 thru May 1945. Following the war, Floyd married Leila Henely on February 26, 1946 in Fort Dodge. The couple made their home on the family farm near Thor where Floyd continued to farm and also work at the Celotex Gypsum Mill in Fort Dodge. He retired from Celotex in 1980 and from farming in 1985. The couple moved to Eagle Grove in 1988.

He is survived by his wife, Leila, of Eagle Grove; son, Richard Lenning, and his wife, Alice, of Blue Springs, Mo.; a daughter, Susan (Lenning) Nicklaus, and her husband, Steve, of Clear Lake; grandchildren Shelly (Nicklaus) Turner and her husband, Troy, of Story City; Eric Lenning, and his wife, Sheri, of St. Peters, Mo.; Amy Lenning Robinson, and her husband, Ken, of Blue Springs, Mo.; Dr. Kimberly Nicklaus of Buffalo, Minn.; and four great grandchildren: Nicklaus Lenning Turner, Madilyn Marie Turner, Nathaniel Jacob Lenning, and Ethan Michael Lenning He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and a sister. The Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
