DEATH OF MRS. ALVINA GRIFFITH
Mrs. Griffith died at the home of her son H. C. GriffithMrs. Alvina Griffith, nee Myers, was born June 2nd, 1838 at Mansfield, Ohio, and died at the home of her son, H. C. Griffith, Thursday morning, Apr. 23, 1903, aged 64 years, 10 mo., and 21 days. While Mrs. Griffith had not been well for some time and had suffered much for years, she was bedfast less than two weeks, but these were weeks of intense suffering, sufferings which however that were born without murmuring. Alvina Myers was married to Isaac Griffith Christmas day, 1855, at Tipton, Iowa. To this couple were born eleven children nine sons and two daughters, all of whom are living but one son who died in infancy. The husband, three brothers and five sisters, besides the children, survive to mourn the death of sister, wife and mother. Mrs. Griffith is known and loved here as a noble Christian woman, a living epistle of Christ read of all, and one who carried sunshine wherever she went. Her death is a loss that will carry sorrow to every heart that knew her. She had been a Christian all her life, and goes from the church militant to be with Christ in the church Triumphant. The funeral was held at the Baptist church Saturday morning at 10 o'clock, Rev. F. O. Bump, preaching the sermon to a large congregation of neighbors and friends of the family. The ten living children were all present at the funeral. The bearers were W. C. Smith, John Hartsell, G. L. Webster, Fred Bauer, John Floyd, Aaron Yearous. The burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. The bereaved husband and family have the sympathy of all in their great sorrow.
