Russell B. Moore, 92, retired Colfax businessman

TEKOA, Wash.-- Russell B. Moore, former owner of a Colfax furniture store, died Thursday of causes related to age at the Tekoa Care Center. He was 92. He was born April 23, 1902, at Dows, Iowa, to Henry V. and Sarah B. Moore. When he was a child, his family moved to Pullman, where he attended Pullman schools and graduated from Pullman High School. He was a student at Reed College at Portland, Ore., and graduated from the University of Washington at Seattle. Later in life, he studied interior decorating at Washington State University at Pullman.

He married Dorothy Hutcheson at Pullman, where he worked as a salesman in a furniture store. In 1933 they moved to Colfax, where he owned and operated Moore's Furniture Store at Colfax for 40 years. His wife died in 1965. Before his retirement in 1975, he also worked as a traveling salesman for a furniture wholesaler. On April 10, 1976, he married Esther F. Merry at Colfax. They lived at Colfax until 1991, when he moved to the Tekoa Care Center.

Survivors include his wife at Colfax; one son, Ron Moore of Florence, Ore., two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. He was a member of the Pullman Calvary Christian Center and a charter member of the Full Gospel Business Men's International. He was a former member and past president of the Colfax Chamber of Commerce. He was a former Scoutmaster at Colfax. He enjoyed gardening and community service projects.

No memorial service will be held. Cremation is planned, with interment at the Pullman City Cemetery. Kramer Funeral Home at Tekoa will be handling arrangements.
