Darlene Jean Trumbell, 73, of Payson, died April 19, 2005. She was born Aug. 25, 1931 on a farm in Kossuth County, Iowa. Her family moved to a farm in Hancock County near Woden, and then bought a farm near Forest City, Iowa, where she was raised and attended country school and high school, graduating in 1948. She was employed by a local telephone company in Forest City. In 1957, she was married to Maurice Trumbell in Miller Lutheran Church in Miller, Iowa. They lived and farmed for 28 years, 2 miles northeast of Goodell, Iowa, where they raised purebred, short-horn cattle. Mr. Trumbell was affected by farm chemicals and had to quit farming and moved to Payson in 1982. Mrs. Trumbell was a member of Rock of Ages Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her husband, Maurice; daughter, Jayne (Michael) Hopkins of Cortez, Colo.; son, Bradley (Janice) Trumbell of Centerville, Iowa; sister, Helen Knapper Eenhuis of Barnesville, Minn.; brother, John (Francis) of Fort Dodge, Iowa; and one grandchild.

Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, April 24 at Messinger Payson Funeral Home, 302 W. Aero Dr. The funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, April 25 at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, 1303 N. McLane Road in Payson. Interment will be at Mountain Meadows Memorial Park.
