Death of W. G. Elder
Pioneer of Hancock County Passes Away at Oklahoma City December 28th

W. G. Elder, son of the early residents of this county, died at Oklahoma City, on December 28th [1924]. His remains were shipped to Goodell, his old home, and internment was to the cemetery there Saturday morning. William Elder was born in Indiana County, Pennsylvania in the year 1861. When a child of but three years he came to Hancock County with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Elder, grew to manhood here and was a familiar figure about the vicinity of Goodell until 1908 when he moved to Oklahoma City. From the date of his arrival here, which was 1864, It will be seen that he was spoken of as one of the old settlers. Brothers of Mr. Elder whom we can recall are: Walter, Marion, James, Newton, Adrian. The sisters – Mrs. Hall and Mrs. Smith. He was a cousin of Mrs. H. M. Hoag and Miss Jennie Elder and Mrs. Kate Straw.
