RENWICK — Funeral services for Robert “Bob” Lane will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 13, 2017, at the Renwick United Methodist Church with Reverend Lynn Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3-7 p.m. with Masonic Rites held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, March 12, 2017, at the Renwick United Methodist Church.

Robert “Bob” Allen Lane was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on November 14, 1929, to Floyd Lane and Evelyn (Packard) Lane. He was baptized and confirmed in the Renwick Methodist Church. He grew up and graduated from Renwick High School in 1947. He attended Iowa State Teacher’s College in Cedar Falls following high school before enlisting in the Navy where he served on the USS Leyte.

Robert was united in marriage to Mary Ann Steffenson of Goldfield on August 5, 1951, at the Renwick United Methodist Church. The first year of married life they lived in Renwick, Iowa, before moving to the family farm. Bob lived on the same farm for all but a few years of his life.

Robert died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at his home near Renwick, Iowa. He was 87. Survivors include sons, James (Kayla) Lane of Rushford, Minnesota, Richard (Linda) Lane of Renwick, Iowa, Jerry Lane of Belmond, Iowa, daughter, Lori (Russ) Hawley of Vail, Iowa, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and sister Phylis (Neal) Sande of Redmond, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd and Evelyn Lane; wife, Mary Ann Lane; infant daughter, Sue Ann Lane; great grandson, Evan Eckles, and brother, Joe (Beverly) Lane. Arrangements are being handled by Oakcrest Funeral Services of Renwick.
