November 26, 1878 --- February 13, 1949

Mrs. Dennis Murphy, 70, longtime resident of the Williams community, died Sunday night at St. Joseph Sanitarium at Dubuque where she had been a patient the past three years. Her death was caused by a stroke and cerebral hemorrhage. Solemn high mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the St. Mary's Catholic church in Williams with Father F. W. McKinley of Williams, assisted by Father J. J. Brickley of Ackley and Father Thomas Knox of Iowa Falls. Burial will be on the family lot at the Catholic cemetery in Williams. Rosary will be at 8 o'clock tonight at the Foster funeral home.

Susan Chaplinski, daughter of Simon and Pauline Chaplinski, was born Nov. 26, 1878 at Raymond, Iowa. When she was a small child she moved with her parents to a farm six miles north of Blairsburg in Wright county. She was educated and grew to young womanhood in that community. In 1900 she moved with her parents to Williams. Oct. 30, 1901 she was united in marriage to Dennis Murphy and the couple started housekeeping on a farm four miles north and one-half mile east of Williams. That had been the family home since.

She is survived by one son, Andrew, of Williams, and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Duffy of Williams and Mrs. Emma Schroder of Dows. She was preceded in death by her husband who died May 6, 1947, also by her parents, three brothers and one sister. Mrs. Murphy was a member of St. Mary's Catholic church at Williams. A kindly generous person, her main interests in life were her home and church.
