July 22, 1922 --- February 16, 2017
Audri Beth Adams (nee Audrey Beth Adams), 94, former Director of Public Relations for the Ambassador Hotels, including the Pump Room, Continental Plaza Hotel (now Westin), and other Chicago institutions, passed away peacefully, surrounded by the love of good friends, February 16, 2017.
Born in Clarion, Iowa to Claude Leland Adams and Mary Bessie Adams (nee White), the family later moved to California where Audri was reared. Audri was an alumna of William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri, where she was a champion member of the debate team. She moved to Chicago after World War II and as a public relations professional, fashion model, cultural critic, and bonne vivante became a lively and cherished fixture of her adopted hometown.
She was a passionate supporter of the USO and other service organizations for veterans and military personnel, honoring the memory of her late brother who served honorably in war and peace in the U.S. Air Force.
She will be deeply missed by her friends at Gibson's on Rush, where she'd been a Saturday denizen of Kup's table for more than 30 years.
