Gary Titus, 75, of Nevis, Minn., passed away Feb. 22, 2017, at The Village at Legacy Pointe in Waukee. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, at St. Andrew's Lutheran Church in Ames.

Gary Wellington Titus was born April 4, 1941, to Wellington David and Anna Henrietta (Weisz) Titus in Sioux City. He married Marilyn Jean Hogue on Oct. 19, 1963, in Schaller. Gary graduated with a bachelor of science degree from Iowa State University in May 1963. During his career, he worked for Mid-American Energy (Iowa Public Service) in Sioux City and Eagle Grove, Fuel Economy in White Bear Lake, Minn., the Omaha Public Power District in Omaha, Neb., and for City of Ames Electric Department, retiring in 2005.

Gary was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, ELCA in Nevis, where he was active in the Men of Bethany, and helped in the building of the new church in 2008, along with other church members and ELCA Mission Builders. Gary enjoyed fishing and hunting, doing home repairs, woodworking and loved spending time with his grandchildren at the lake.

Gary is survived by his wife, Marilyn Titus, of Nevis; his children, Timothy (Kathy) Titus, of Clive, Mark (Natalie) Titus, of Pueblo, Colo., Jay Titus, of Des Moines, and Beth Titus, of Des Moines; his grandchildren, Ella Titus, Charles Titus, Ethan Titus and Kalli Titus; his sister, Janet (Craig) Ankerstjerne, of Independence; and six nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorials may be given to prostate cancer research or a hospice facility of choice. Adams Funeral Home in Ames is assisting the family with arrangements.
