Christopher M. Penrod, 24, of Bluffton, [Indiana] passed away Monday, Feb. 6, 2017, at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne.

Christopher was born in Portland, IN, on Mar. 1, 1992. He is survived by his mother, Ruth A. (Brown) Penrod of Bluffton; and his father, Kirk A. Penrod of Anderson, South Carolina.

A 2011 graduate of Norwell High School, he enjoyed his work as a millwright. Christopher was a dare devil, who enjoyed racing, “burning rubber” with his car, spending time on his four-wheeler, and partying with his friends. He will always be remembered for his ability to make others laugh.

In addition to his parents, Christopher is survived by five sisters, Alexis J. Penrod of Bluffton, and Christina Cook, Madison Cook, Peyton Cook, and Kerrigan Cook, all of Kanawha, IA; two brothers, Joshua A. Penrod of Ossian and Justin (Crystal) Cook of Kanawha, IA; grandparents, Jim Brown of Uniondale, and Gary and Ruth Penrod of Michigan; a niece, Augustina Penrod; and a nephew, Ayden Penrod. Christopher was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sally Brown.

Visitation will be Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton, with a funeral service beginning immediately following visitation at 2:00 PM, with James R. Poling officiating. Burial will be at Horeb Cemetery in Uniondale. Memorial contributions may be given to the family, in care of the funeral home.

Bluffton man dies after being critically hurt in ATV crash

UNIONDALE, Ind. -- A Bluffton man critically injured Sunday morning in an ATV crash in Uniondale passed away Monday. Police and medics were called around 4:30 a.m. Sunday to a field near County Roads 600 North and 100 West, on the town’s north side, on a report of an off-road vehicle personal injury crash.

Indiana Conservation officials said Monday that 24-year-old Christopher M. Penrod of Bluffton was operating an all-terrain vehicle when he struck a large metal post and was ejected from the vehicle. Penrod was taken to a hospital in Fort Wayne in critical condition. According to the Allen County Coroner, Penrod died at 6 p.m. on Monday.
