Henry Glawe dies; final rites Friday
Henry Wilhelm Glawe - Services well be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church for Henry Glawe who died Tuesday morning. Henry Wilhelm Glawe, son of Henry and Minnie Glawe was born January 22, 1883, in Germany. He came to American to Clayton County, Iowa when an infant. He was baptised in the Lutheran faith and confirmed in the Lutheran Church at Clayton Center in 1897. His education was received in that community.On Feb. 24, 1918, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Katherine Brandt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Buseman, at Klemme, with the Rev. William Theil officiating. They established their home near Klemme where they farmed until 1929, then moved to their home at Britt. He followed carpenter work until retirement. He was a member of the First Lutheran Church.
For the past three months he has been in ill health and has been confined to his home as well as the Hancock Memorial Hospital. Tuesday morning he slept away, following a heart attack and had reached the age of 83 years, 8 months and 12 days. He is survived by his wife, three step-children Henry Brandt, Lyle, Minn.; Mrs. Burerne (Louise) Johnson, Goldfield, Ia.; Mrs. Fred (Martha) Nuehring, Stewartville, Minn.; 9 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, Charles Glawe, Elkader, Iowa and John at Little Port. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Herman, Albert and Clarence and 4 sisters, Mrs. Minnie Lahrs; Mrs. Ella Knoke; Mrs. Henry Seeland and Mrs. Rickie Kass [Reaka Koss].
A prayer service for the immediate family and friends will be held at 1 p.m. at the Boughton Funeral Home, preceding the Church service. Interment will be in Ell Township Cemetery at Klemme [Iowa].
