Louisa M. Griffith was born at Vinton, Iowa to Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Griffith on Jan. 11, 1858. She was married to William Pletcher in 1881. They adopted two children: Harry who preceded her in death in 1909 at the age of 23 and Ruth (Mrs. Scott Ellsworth) with whom she made her home the past 34 years. Two other children also made their home with them: Olin Stark now of Washington ,D.C. and the late Mrs. Ron Griffith of Eagle Grove.

She was baptized in the First Baptist Church of Eagle Grove on August 21, 1891 and has been a life long member, attending church and working in the church as long as her health permitted. She and her husband lived on a farm 2 miles east of Eagle Grove until his death in 1917. She moved to Eagle Grove in 1919.

Mrs. Pletcher died Sept. 9 at the age of 98 years, seven months, and 23 days at the Askvig-Crickmore Nursing home in Eagle Grove. She had been in failing health since breaking her hip on Saturday July 28th. Preceding her in death were her father, mother, 7 brothers, 1 sister, husband and son. She leaves in passing her daughter and husband; Mr. and Mrs. Scott Ellsworth, 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Services were held at the Sacquety Chapel Tuesday at 2 p.m. with Rev. Carlton Beardsley officiating. Interment was in the Rose Hill cemetery.
