REMAINS BEING BROUGHT FROM ST. PAUL TODAY
Pioneer of County Was Generous Contributor to ChurchThe remains of George C. Jameson, a pioneer of Black Hawk County, will arrive this evening from St. Paul, Minn., and the funeral will be from First Methodist Episcopal Church at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Rev. Dr. Rule, pastor of Holman Methodist Church, who conducted the funeral of Mr. Jameson's mother, Mrs. Lois Jameson, three years ago in this city, will deliver the sermon. He will be assisted by Rev. F.W. Court and Dr. E. J. Lockwood.
Interment will be in the mausoleum in Fairview Cemetery, where Mr. Jameson's parents are entombed. The widow, Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Jameson, Mr. and Mrs. G.H. Jameson of Dows and Miss Hattie Standish, who has made her home in St. Paul for several years, will accompany the remains. Mr. Jameson was in his seventieth year. He came to this county with his parents in the early sixties, settling in Lincoln Township. He was an extensive dealer in livestock and in his later years was one of the largest operators in the country in native western horses.
After leaving Lincoln Township, Mr. Jameson moved to Reinbeck. Later he lived in Waterloo and still later was in the banking business at Clarion and Dows. Twelve years ago he moved to St. Paul to be more advantageously located in his horse business. He owned several farms in the north and west.
Mr. Jameson was married to Miss Ella Wright and they had planned to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary next autumn. Of the five children born to them only W. R. Jameson, Waterloo, and G. H. Jameson, Dows, survive.
Gave Much to Church -- Mr. Jameson was a generous contributor to religious and philanthropic movements. When Holman church was erected near his home in St. Paul he gave it large support. He also was a heavy contributor to the endowment fund for Hamline University in St. Paul. Altho a member of the Methodist Church for many years, Mr. Jameson was generous in his contributions to other denominations. Mrs. C. A. Wright, Des Moines, mother of H. R. Wright, former state dairy commissioner, is a sister.
Upon its arrival here the body will be taken to the Kistner mortuary and a short prayer service will be conducted in the chapel at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow.
