Dorothy Mae Nieman, 76, of Britt, passed away Thursday, July 21, 1988, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa. Dorothy, the daughter of John and Cora Roushia Blank, was born June 4, 1912, at Britt. She received her education in the Britt and Kanawha schools. On February 1, 1933, she was united in marriage to Edwin Nieman at the Christian Reformed Parsonage in Kanawha. The couple resided on a farm east of Kanawha, then moved to a farm southwest of Britt in 1962, and into Britt in 1971.

Dorothy was a member of the Christian Reformed Church and Ladies Aid at Britt. During her life she was employed in the Britt Elementary School Lunch Program, was a nurse's aide at the Westview Care Center and later helped care for people in the Britt area. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and embroidery. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Edwin who passed away in January l977, 3 brothers: Irvin, Alvin "Joe" and one infant brother. Survivors include her family; l sister June and husband John Nieman of Kanawha, 3 brothers: Cecil and wife Marie Blank of Bemidji, Minnesota, Paul and wife Louise Blank of Nashville, Arkansas, J. E. "Cap" and wife Nadine Blank of Goodell, Iowa.

Funeral services were held July 23, 1988, at the Britt Christian Reformed Church, Rev. Verlyn Vandertop officiating. Burial was at Evergreen Cemetery, Britt, Iowa.
