Marilyn “Sally” I. Hopkins, 88, of Shippensburg, passed away Friday, Dec. 2, 2016, at home surrounded by her family. She was born Thursday, Dec. 8, 1927, in Corwith, Iowa, the daughter of the late Joseph P. and Laura E. (Escher) McBeth. Sally graduated from Newville High School and was a former employee of SKF Industries. Sally and Ralph enjoyed several cross-country camping adventures. They were thrilled to have visited 48 states and spent a considerable amount of time at various beaches including Fenwick Island, Delaware, and Melbourne, Florida. It was a particular joy and treasured moments were spent walking the beach and searching for shells, often with her daughter, Linda. Sally had a deep love for growing flowers and vegetables, and canning her accomplishments. Ralph and Sally enjoyed their Shippensburg friends and many happy times swinging on the dance floor, bowling and playing cards.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Ralph E. Hopkins. She is also survived her daughter, Linda B. and husband Bradley Myers, grandson Shane Myers, all of Mechanicsburg; her sister, Rose M. Herr of Shippensburg; and several nieces and nephews. Professional services are entrusted to Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. on Sally’s birthday, Thursday, Dec. 8, at Dugan Funeral Home and Crematory, 51 Asper Drive, Shippensburg, with Rev. Derek Wadlington officiating.
