Julia Nelson, 79, of Hampton, died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2006, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. Funeral services were held Friday, Aug. 25, at the St. John's Lutheran Church in rural Hampton. The Rev. Mary Petersen officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton was in charge of the arrangements.

Julia was born March 11, 1927, in Hamilton Township, Franklin County to Alfred and Dagny (Jorgensen) Kibsgaard, She graduated from Dows High School and attended Grandview College in Des Moines. She married Randall Nelson on November 16, 1947 at St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Hampton. She was a homemaker. Julia was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and St. John's Lutheran Church Ladies Aid, Morgan Township Study Club and a member of the 4-H Board and enjoyed wintering in Arizona. Julia enjoyed music and singing in the church choir.

Living family members include her husband, Randall Nelson, of Hampton; Daughter, Karen Nelson of Portland, Ore.; son, Roger (Phyllis) Nelson, of Ruthven; son, Gary (Carla) Nelson of Sheffield; daughter, Nancy Nelson of Chicago, Ill.; granddaughter Dana (Wyatt) Zoske and great grandson Isaac Zoske of Huxley; grandson Peter Nelson of Waukee; and grandson Adam (Erin) Nelson of Des Moines. She was preceded in death by her parents.
