January 5, 1882 --- February 23, 1952

Mrs. John L. Lund (nee Annie Weland) was born in Lee County, Illinois, January 5, 1882, the daughter of Thomas and Serena (Wilson) Weland. She was baptized there as an infant and at the age of 14 was confirmed by Pastor H. G. Holm in Holmes Church near Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was united in marriage to John L. Lund on December 19, 1900. The marriage was solemnized by Pastor H. G. Holm at Eagle Grove, Iowa. To this union seven children were born, six of which grew to maturity.

Mr. and Mrs. Lund lived in Murray County, Minnesota, the first year. Then they moved to Lac qui Parle County, where they resided for nine years. Since 1910 the family resided on a farm four miles west and one-half mile north of Clarkfield. Upon coming to the Clarkfield area they joined the Norwegian Evangelical Lutheran Church of Clarkfield where they have been active members all these years. Mrs. Lund was a member of the Ladies Aid and was glad to serve in any way she could.

She was a faithful wife and a devoted mother. She loved the Lord Jesus Christ and her chief interest was in the work of the church. She was much interested in foreign missions and supported them with her prayers and her gifts.

Her health began to fail about three years ago and since March 1951, was an invalid. She appreciated what her children and many others did for her and she bore her affliction patiently. She sought spiritual solace in Word and sacrament and on occasion expressed her desire to depart and be with her Savior. She passed away about 12:18 noon on Saturday, February 23rd, 1952, in the hospital at Clarkfield. Her age then was 70 years, 1 month and 18 days.

Preceding her in death was an infant son who died two days after birth in 1902, and her husband, John Lund, who died August 26th, 1921. Surviving her are the children: Leonard Lund of Rose Valley, Saskatchewan, Canada, Selmer Lund of Granite Falls, Clarence, Einard, Clara (Mrs. Theodore Anderson), and Esther, all of Clarkfield. Clarence and Esther have been living in the family home with their mother. Also six grandchildren, one brother and four sisters survive. The brother is Burt Weland of Eagle Grove, Iowa, and the sisters: Rose Weland of Cannon City, Colorado, Mrs. Osmund Amosson of Garner, Iowa, Mrs. Harold Reynolds of Los Angeles, California, and Mrs. Clifford Simpson, Eagle Grove, Iowa.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, February 27th, 1952, 2:00 p.m. at the Clarkfield Evangelical Lutheran Church, Clarkfield, Minnesota, Rev. P.L. Mork and Rev. R.S. Chelmen officiating. "Jesus Savior, Pilot Me" was sung by Mrs. P.L. Mork, and "Den Store Hvide Flok" was sung by Martin Jurgenson. A duet, "Abide With Me" was sung by Mrs. Carl Anderson and Miss Agnes Olson. Mrs. Lund's four sons and a son-in-law, Theodore Anderson, and a cousin, Jesse Ulstad of Walnut Grove served as pallbearers. Arrangements by Lynner Funeral Home Since 1891 -- Clarkfield Minnesota
