Kathryn Emily Broadhurst, 61, died November 22, 1979, in Roosevelt Hospital, New York, N.Y. Kathryn was born on July 4, 1918 in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to John F. and Mary Theresa Hood Hart. She graduated from Eagle Grove Sacred Heart School, Eagle Grove Junior College and attended American Institute of Business, Des Moines. She was a legal secretary for John Henneberry Law Office before going to Washington in 1941 to begin employment with the United States Government as a legal secretary for the Secret Service of the U.S. Treasury Dept. In 1943 she was transferred to New York where she was employed as a legal secretary for Selective Service Division, U.S. Department of Defense.

Kathryn was united in marriage to Kenneth Broadhurst of Northampton, Mass. on November 27, 1959, at New York City. Mrs. Broadhurst remained with Selective Service from 1943 until her retirement in 1972. From 1960 thru 1972 she served as the administrative assistant to the Director of Selective Service, New York City, N.Y. Kathryn was a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, Jackson Heights, N.Y. and Catholic Daughters of America.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; one sister, Sister Theresa, Sheboygan, Wisc; six brothers, John Hart, Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Thomas, Eagle Grove; Emmett, Mason City; Lawrence, Dubuque; Patrick, Des Moines; Hubert, Chicago, Ill. Preceding her in death were her parents, two brothers, Joe and Eugene. Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Church, Eagle Grove. Father Norman White officiated and burial was held in Calvary Cemetery.
