Robert G. Beem, 61, Clarion, a former Duncombe resident, died Saturday, June 6, 1998 at the Community Memorial Hospital at Clarion. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Mary's Catholic Church at Williams, with Rev. Rick Dagit, celebrant. Burial will be in the St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Williams. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral Home in Webster City from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday and at the church Wednesday morning. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the American Legion.
Robert Guy Beem, son of Robert and Mary (Kennedy) Beem, was born Nov. 19, 1936 at Webster City. He attended Webster City schools. He worked at Baber Ford as an auto body repairman. On May 28, 1982, he married Janet Keane at Williams. The couple resided at Duncombe. He also was employed by Maudlin Construction and Giese Ready-Mix. In 1988, he retired because of failing health. In 1993, they moved to Lake Cornelia.
He is survived by his wife; sons and daughters-in-law, William Beem, Tiffin, John and Sue Beem, Harcourt, Jeff Beem, Webster City and Brian Beem, Germany; daughters and son-in-law, Teresa Ewing, Garner, and Stephanie and Chris Kliegl, Webster City; 13 grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Allie and Beverly Rickabaugh, both of Webster City; brother, Roger Beem, Duncombe; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Beem was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, American Legion Post 191, and a nine year member of the Iowa National Guard.
