Mary Lou (Kist) Johnson, the daughter of Eugene and Estaline (Smith) Kist, was born January 8, 1938, on the family farm outside of Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1955. In 1959, Mary Lou was united in marriage with Roger Johnson and they had two sons, Roger and Kendall. They later divorced. Mary Lou also spent 18 years with a very special person to her, Jack Mosher.

Mary Lou worked for Gardner, Nail & Davis Accounting and over 20 years for Oldson's Plumbing & Heating. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove and Miss Deals Card Club. Mary Lou enjoyed family, food, BINGO at the Casino, travelling and listening to music.

Mary passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, at the age of 79 years. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Donald Kist. Survivors include her sons, Roger Johnson and wife Tina of Glenburn,ME and Kendall Johnson and wife Leeann of Eagle Grove; 6 grandchildren: Nichole Plain and husband Chris, Devon Treadwell-Johnson, Alyssa Johnson, Karter Johnson, Brandon Webster and Bethany Webster; siblings: Jerry Kist and wife Joan of Vincent, Bob Kist of Eagle Grove, Ronnie Kist and wife Janis of Dardanelle, AR, Rick Kist and wife Cam of Wausau,WI and Diane Gates and husband Dan of Ankeny and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove with Father Jerry Blake, Celebrating. Visitation is Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Memorials will be left to the discretion of the family.
