July 13, 1888 ---- June 13, 1979

Ephraim Halgrim was born July 13, 1888 to Ole and Helena Gangestad Halgrim in Norway Township, Humboldt County. He attended Norway Township school and Waldorf College. In 1908 he became united in marriage to Mattie Stockdale. This union was blessed with five daughters: Helene, Mildred, Ovedia, Thelma, and Dolores. The farm on which they lived is a "Century Farm" having been in the Halgrim family for over a 100 years. In 1926 Mattie passed away and Ephraim chose to never remarry. As a hobby, Ephraim raised Pedigreed Greyhound Dogs for racing and also traveled widely racing his own dogs.

Ephraim passed away Wednesday, June 13,1979, at the age of 90 years, 11 months, in the Clarion Community Hospital. He had been ill and in the hospital for six weeks. Ephraim was a life-long member of the Thor Lutheran Church.

Those who mourn his departure are: five daughters: Helene Halgrim, Clarion; Mildred Sorensen, Goldfield; Mrs. John (Ovedia) Morgan, Eagle Grove; Thelma Ventling, Webster City; Dolores Buhner, Eagle Grove; 16 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, one brother, two half brothers, two sisters and three half sisters.

Funeral services were held at Thor Lutheran Church June 16, 1979, at 2 p.m. Rev. Walter Carlson officiated and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove, Iowa.
