Robert Arthur Nessa was born June 11, 1929, at Thor, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Lillie Mickelson Nessa. He attended school at Thor, graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1947 and attended Eagle Grove Junior College. He was united in marriage to Lavonne Marie Harms of Callender, on January 21, 1951, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Fort Dodge. He entered the U. S. Army, February 12, 1951, and served for two years with service in Alaska. He returned home after his service and engaged in farming.

Bob was stricken with a heart attack at the Eagle Grove Country Club on Sunday, September 22, and died instantly. At the time of his death, he was 45 years, three months and ten days.

He is survived by his father, wife and three children: sons Steven Nessa, University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls; Neil Nessa, Eagle Grove; and daughter, Jan Nessa, University of Iowa, Iowa City; also one sister, Jean, Mrs. John Pemberton, Story City. He was preceded in death by his mother.

Bob was a member of the Thor Lutheran Church, the American Legion, Eagle Grove Country Club and a director in the Iowa Institute of Co-operation, the "733" Investors Club and Sons of Norway.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 1974, at the Thor Lutheran Church. Pastor Marlin Ingebretson officiated and burial was in East Ullensvang Cemetery, Thor.
