April 2, 1881 ---- March 28, 1953
Mrs. Edith Dixon, the daughter of John and Anna Gustafson, was born at Little Rock, Ark., April 2, 1881. At about the age of one year her parents moved to Iowa settling near Fort Dodge. It was here that she took her schooling. On October 5, 1904 Miss Gustafson was united in marriage to Mervin Dixon at Fort Dodge. Immediately following their marriage they moved to Eagle Grove to make their home and had lived here since that time. Two children came to bless the home, Arlene and Harold. Arlene lived to be but three years of age. She was taken from the family in 1916.
Mrs. Dixon was a member of the Ladies Society of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, the Eastern Star and the Methodist church. She was very active in her church work up until just recently when bad health prevented her usual activity. She worked in Class 16, the Woman's Society of Christian Service and the Wilson-Newcomb Circle. Mrs. Dixon was devoted to her home and family. She dearly loved to work with her flowers and garden. It may well be said that she was a home body.
Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her daughter, Arlene, in 1916 and by her husband, Mervin, in October of 1937. She leaves to mourn her passing her son, Harold and his wife and two daughters, Candace and Deborah of Manhattan, Illinois; five sisters Mrs. Martin Hanson, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mrs. Thelma Novotny, LaGrange, Ill.; Mrs. Anna Johnson, Oelwein; Mrs. Walter Williams, Fort Dodge; Mrs. Rudolph Moenck, Duncombe; two brothers Adolph Gustafson, Fort Dodge and Walter Gustafson, Tennessee.
