March 5, 1920 --- October 28, 2016

Geraldine Ione Sorenson was born on March 5, 1920, on a farm near Clarion, Iowa, the daughter of Gerhard and Ida Nelson Skouge. In 1921 Geraldine moved with her parents to a farm near Hadley, MN. She attended District #21 grade school in Hadley, Slayton High School and Minneapolis Business College and did secretarial work until her marriage to Harold Sorenson in 1942. They farmed one mile northwest of Hadley. Her interests were many and varied. Gardening and reading were her favorites; she loved to make flower arrangements and she read almost everything, lending out her books to any who asked. She also enjoyed quilting, stitchery, craft projects, scrap booking, traveling, collecting poetry, letter writing, and bird watching. In her younger years, as a member of Hadley Lutheran Church, she typed up the bulletins and provided flower arrangements for the altar. She also became a member of a birthday club and helped to sew quilts for the needy. She loved her 100% Norwegian heritage and was able to travel to Norway twice. She lived at home on the farm until June 2013, at which time she entered the Golden Living Center-Slayton in Slayton, MN. On September 15, 2016 Geraldine moved to Our House Hospice Home in Slayton where she passed away on Friday, October 28, 2016 at the age of 96.

Gary) Hoffman of Chanhassen, MN, and Jim (Connie) Sorenson of Hadley, MN; seven grandchildren, Billie-Jo (Jason Schmidt) Platt of Morton, MN, Tony (Jennifer) Sorenson of Lake Wilson, MN, Colleen (Gregg) Sanchez of Vallejo, CA, Greg (Kirsten) Hoffman of Portland, OR, Darrin Hoffman of Rochester, MN, Jessica (Matthew) Hynes of Minneapolis, MN, and Phillip (Briana) Hoffman of Minnetonka, MN; 19 great-grandchildren; four nieces and a nephew.
