Gary Lee Pohlman, the son of Clyde and Mary (LaBus) Pohlman, was born January 24, 1941, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Eagle Grove. He later attended Iowa Central Community College to become an accountant. In 1961, Gary was united in marriage to Janet (Roush) in Clarion, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Michael E. Pohlman of Iowa Falls and Monica L. Noah (Kim) of Indianola. They later divorced.

On August 18, 1968, Gary was united in marriage to Violet B. (Lockett) Rink. Together they raised three sons, Rob, Ricky Joe and Randall and a daughter, Cynthia in Eagle Grove.

Gary worked for Franklin's and Hagie's. In 1969, he went to work for Umthun Trucking as a truck driver and dispatcher. In 1988, he had to retire because of health problems. Gary was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove. He enjoyed playing cards, camping, hunting, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

Gary passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, after a long struggle with medical problems, at the age of 75 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ricky Joe; siblings: Margaret Ford (Ted), Barbara Hansen, Patty Callies and brothers-in-law, Dwain Callies and Doede Harms. Gary is survived by his wife, Violet; sons, Rob and wife Sandy of Way Cross, Georgia and Randall and wife Lisa of Mason City; daughter, Cynthia Nelson of Mason City; 14 grandchildren; 5 step grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister, Sandra Andrews and husband Gerald of Eagle Grove and many nieces, nephews and friends he considered family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Steve Swanholm officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation is Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
