Norma Florance (Larson) Scott, the daughter of Emanuel "Manny" and Caroline (Larson) Larson, was born April 10, 1925, in Mankato, Minnesota. The family moved to the Eagle Grove area in 1930, where she was raised and educated. Norma worked in the ship yards in Vancouver, WA during W.W.II as a welder. In 1944, Norma married Elmer Barkis and he died in a boating accident in 1945, three months before the birth of their daughter Eleanor. On June 25, 1950, Norma married George E. Scott, Sr. in Oelwein and they made their home in Eagle Grove and had a son George. George preceded her in death on December 11, 1985.
She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Norma enjoyed music, cooking and gardening – she was also an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bulls.
Norma passed away on Saturday, October 29, 2016, at the Humboldt North Care Center in Humboldt, at the age of 91 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents; brothers: Marvin, Gaylord, Leonard, Jack and Irvin Larson and her beloved dogs, Beau and Flame. Survivors include her daughter, Eleanor "Ellen" Campisi of Humboldt; son, George E. Scott, JR. of Eagle Grove; three grandchildren: Kevin Campisi (Jessica), Kristen Campisi and Kelly Box and three great-grandchildren: Hailey Box, Donovan Box and K J (Kevin Scott, II) Campisi.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at 2:00 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorials will be left to the discretion of the family.
