Robert Ray Braden, the son of Glenn and Viola B. Rossman Braden, was born on April 23, 1927 at Goldfield, Iowa. He grew up in Goldfield and graduated from the Goldfield High School. He attended Cornell College at Mount Vernon for one year and the Fort Dodge Junior College for two years. He was employed at the Hormel plant and at the Union Trust and Savings Bank in Fort Dodge. On Nov. 27, 1948, he was united in marriage with Gila M. Clausen at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Duncombe, Iowa. He became associated with the National Cash Register Company and was employed by them for 29 years. The family lived in Fort Dodge and Sioux City, Iowa, and then moved to Wisconsin and later to South Dakota and for the past three and one-half years, he had served as the manager of the N.C.R., Bristol, Tenn. office and was recently named as the District Manager of the National Cash Register Financial Systems Sales at Greenville, S.C. He was a member of the St. Anne's Catholic Church in Bristol, the Knights of Columbus, the Bristol Elks Lodge, the Bristol Rotary Club and while living in Fort Dodge, he was District Organizer of the Boy Scouts of America.

He died early Tuesday morning, June 7, l983 at the family home in Bristol, Tenn. after an illness of cancer: He attained the age of 56 years, one month and 14 days. He is survived by his wife, Gila M. Braden of Bristol, Tenn.; his two daughters, Miss Patricia M. Braden of Brookings, S.D. and Miss Jeanne Anne Braden of Bristol, Tenn.; his son, Michael Braden and his wife of Mederland, Colo.; his sister, Beverly Jean Braden of Hayward, Calif, and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Robert R. Braden, 56, of Bristol, Tenn. were held on Friday, June 10, 1983 at 9:30 a.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove, Iowa, with Rev. Fr. John Hemann officiating. Burial was in the family lot at the Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield, Iowa. Visitation was held on Thursday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.
