Viola Elsie Hinrichsen was born on February 14, 1923, the daughter of Henry and Anna Guse Hinrichsen at Moorland, Iowa. The family moved to a farm west of Eagle Grove and later to a farm near Woolstock. She received her education in the Woolstock School System, and graduated from Woolstock High School in 1941. She was united in marriage to Vergil Jacobsen of Eagle Grove on May 29, 1946 in the Methodist Church in Vincent. The couple made their home on the Jacobsen family farm south of Eagle Grove. She was employed as a dental assistant for E. C. Johnson in Eagle Grove until her retirement. They moved into Eagle Grove in January of 1982. She entered the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in August of 1995. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove and was active in the Naomi Circle.

Viola Elsie Jacobsen died on Monday, October 16, 1995. She had attained the age of 72 years, 8 months and two days. She is survived by her husband, Vergil Jacobsen of Eagle Grove; sons, Steven Jacobsen and his wife Debra of Fremont, Neb., and Dennis Jacobsen and his wife Cheryl of Eagle Grove; daughter, Janis Minikis and her husband Larry of Eagle Grove; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Edna Amdahl and husband Olaf of Eagle Grove, and Lillie Gronbach and her husband Vernon of Clear Lake, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 19, 1995, at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove, Iowa, with the Reverend Omar Pettersen officiating. Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Willim Funeral Home Ltd. of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
