August 15, 1874 --- April 9, 1971

Stanwood - Minnie Stone, 97, former resident of Stanwood, died Friday, April 9 at Windsor Estates, in Cedar Falls. Burial was Tuesday, April 13 in Stanwood cemetery. The Rev. William Wills was in charge of the funeral services. The Rev. Norman Lawton, Mechanicsville Presbyterian church was in charge of the interment service.

Minnie F. Stone, daughter of Joseph and Mary Jane Fults was born Aug. 15, 1874. April 2, 1896, she married Fred Lee Smiley at Clarion. He preceded her in death in June of 1902. In 1911 she married Nelson E. Stone at Swea City. He died in 1911.

They lived in Stanwood at that time where Mr. Stone operated the drug store. Much of her life was spent as a practical nurse in San Diego, before returning to Cedar Falls the balance of her life.

She is survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Frank (Fern) Hitchcock, Cedar Falls and Mrs. Austin (Eloise) Shearer, Spencer; 3 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 husbands; one daughter; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
