Funeral services for Bessie Ridgway, 85, Belmond, were held Monday, March 23, 1987, at the Fulton Funeral Home, Belmond. Rev. Bill Duay conducted the 11:00 a.m. service. Interment was held in the Dayton Cemetery, Dayton. Mrs. Ridgway passed away Saturday, March 18 at the Belmond Care Center. During the service bearers were Virgil Draper, Leslie Simpson, Larry Simpson, George Simpson, Erik Nelson and Harold Thompson.

Bessie Florence Birdsell was born on December 13, 1901 at Frankville. She was the daughter of Roy and Mary (Todd) Birdsell. Bessie married Herbert Ridgway on November 15, 1951 at Jackson, Mn. The couple lived in Dayton. Mr. Ridgway passed away in 1969. Bessie continued to live in Dayton until moving to Belmond in 1975 to be near her daughter. Bessie was a member of Rebecca Circle of the United Methodist Church, Grand Mothers Club and a birthday club. She was also a member of the Dayton Women's Relief Corps 329. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. George (Florence) Simpson, Belmond; four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
