April 4, 1877 ---- September 25, 1956

Carl O. Jacobson, was born of parents Ole and Bertha Jacobson, in Hamilton county, near Jewell, Iowa, April 4, 1877. He received Christian baptism as an infant and during his childhood received the usual instruction in the Christian faith and was confirmed at Trinity Lutheran church near Hardy, Iowa. He passed away at his home in Eagle Grove, Iowa, Tuesday, September 25, 1956 at 10:00 p..m.

In 1902 he was united in marriage to Lena Mickelson. One son Theodore was born to this union. Lena Jacobson passed away January 4, 1904. In 1907 he was united in marriage to Carrie Knutson. Seven children were born: Burnette, Bennie, Connie, Alma, Genevieve, Alfred and Mable. Again Carl was visited with sorrow when his wife Carrie passed away December 15, 1922.

In 1926 he was united in marriage to Anna Mickelson Munson. To this union four children were born, Carolina, Clarence, Paul and Elmer. Carolina died in infancy and Elmer died at the age of three. Mr. Jacobson experienced a spiritual awakening in 1906 and after some conflict and struggle found peace with God and lived in fellowship with his Savior until his death. His many sorrows and hardships drove him closer to his God in whom he found grace and strength. He experienced the reality of God's promises and humbly trusted in his Lord who promised, "We know that in everything God works for good with those who love Him."

He spent his early life in Hamilton and Humboldt counties. Later he lived in Webster, Hancock and Wright counties. He was engaged in farming until 1946 when he retired and moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa. He was a faithful member of Samuel Evangelical Lutheran church. Even though he was ill and falling in strength, he would exert himself so as to hear the Word of God. He was a loving Christian husband and father and his large family feel the loss of his passing.

Mr. Jacobson was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lena who passed away in 1904, his second wife Carrie who passed away in 1922, one son Elmer, one daughter Carolina, two brothers Ben and Jacob and one sister Bessie. He is survived by his wife Anna, five sons, Theodore of Burt, Iowa, Bennie of Goldfield, Alfred, Clarence and Paul of Eagle Grove, Iowa; five daughters Burnette (Mrs. George Helm), Crystal Lake, Iowa, Connie (Mrs. Henry Kamp), Kanawha, Iowa, Alma (Mrs. Chester Odland), Goldfield, Iowa. Genevieve (Mrs. Arthur Thompson), Eagle Grove, Iowa and Mabel (Mrs. Irvin Odland), Clarion, Iowa; two stepsons, Marlon Munson of Waterloo, Iowa, Amos Munson of Fort Dodge, Iowa, one stepdaughter, Viola (Mrs. Robert Armstrong), thirty-one grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one brother Andrew of Marshall, Minnesota, two sisters, Mrs. Vulla Knutson, Silverton, Oregon, and Mrs. Ellen Cherland of Burt, Iowa, several nephews and nieces and many other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held from Sacquety Funeral Chapel Saturday, September 29, 1956 a t 1:30 p . m. and from Samuel Evangelical Lutheran church at 2:00 p . m., Pastor B. F. Molstre officiated. H. J. Luthro sang at the service. Casket bearers were Clifford Jacobson, Oley Cherland, Amey Cherland, Julian Cherland, Harvey Tieg and Herman Mickelson. Interment was made at Rose Hill cemetery.
