CORA EMILEA ALLBAUGH
Cora Emilea Oleson, the daughter of O. M. Olson (Oleson) was born January 4, 1896 on a farm near Eagle Grove. She attended Clover Ridge rural school in Norway Township, Humboldt County; Jewell College, Jewell; and Capital City Commercial College, Des Moines. She was a secretary with the Veterinary Department at Iowa State University when she met her husband, Leland G. Allbaugh, whom she married December 24, 1919.
While her husband was county agent in Carroll County, she took ceramics classes at a local Catholic school, and when they moved to Ames, she graduated with a two-year Home Economics degree in 1923 at Iowa State University. She took painting lessons at the Leston Museum of Fine Arts while her husband continued his studies at Harvard University. She was a worldwide traveler as she accompanied her husband on his assignments to Crete, Greece, Rome, Italy, Sudan, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Iran and the Far East. She served as a Nurses's Aide at the Ames Hospital during World War II. She was an active member in four Methodist churches, Goldfield, Carroll, Ames, and Knoxville, Tenn., serving on committees and holding many offices in the women's organizations She was a longtime member of Eastern Star and an active member of PEO, being a charter member of two Knoxville, Tenn., chapters.

Cora Allbaugh died April 10, 1991 in Ames at the age of 95. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Loyd Olson and three sisters. She is survived by her husband; two sons, Robert, Greenbrae, Calif.; and James and his wife, Susan, Westport, Conn.; four grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Ashpole, Clarion; Myrtle Boyd, Ames; two nephews, Jim Ashpole and Kenley Ashpole; three nieces, Betty Young, Clarion; Darcia Christensen, Eagle Grove; and Judy Jurgensen, Princeton, Minn.

Memorial services were held April 13 in Goldfield at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. James Seibert officiating. Adams Funeral Home, Ames, was in charge of arrangements.
