February 10, 1887 ---- July 27, 1973

Reverend Frank Richard Walton was born February 10th, 1887 in Galt, [Wright County] Iowa. His parents were Charles H. and Eva May Linn Walton. The family moved to Missouri in a covered wagon·where he received his early education. A Methodist from his youth, his father and 4 of his father's family were Methodist Ministers. He heard the call of God and in 1925 was licensed to preach by the Assembly of God in Springfield, Missouri. He came into the Southwest Missouri Conference in 1947 and was sent as assistant pastor of the Licking Larger Parish in October 1949. That same year and following four years he attended the Perkins School of Theology at S.M.U. He was ordained deacon, then Elder in 1952 under Bishop Ivan Lee Holt. He served Licking Larger Parish, Raymondville, Summersville, Yukon and Dixon, Missouri. He transferred to Southwest Texas Conference where he started the Point Comfort Methodist Church in 1952 being its first pastor and the highest paying church per capita on the district. He also served the Skidmore and Berclair churches. He retired in 1957 and returned to Missouri and served Phillipsburg and Fairview Churches for four more years. He retired in June 1961. He wrote a book of poems called "Poems That Preach" published in 1972.
