March 7, 1914 ---- June 12, 2003

Everett M. Hand, 89, Webster City, died Thursday, June 12, 2003 at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City. Graveside memorial services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2003 at Cass Township Cemetery, north of Webster City with Pastor Gerald Caquelin officiating. There will be no visitation. Arrangements were made with Foster Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Everett Marvin Hand, son of James and Nellie Hand Gage [sic. Nellie (Anderson) Hope Hand Gage], was born March 7, 1914 in Webster City. He attended school at Mount Pleasant Country School and at Blairsburg. The family resided on a farm south of Webster City. On April 15, 1935, he married Evelyn Irene Myers in Webster City. The couple, married 68 years, resided in Webster City. Everett worked for McMurray Hatchery for more than 50 years. He was also a self-employed carpenter.

Mr. Hand is survived by his wife, Evelyn; son and daughter-in-law, Delvin and Donna Hand of Coffeeville, Kan.; daughters and son-in-law, Karen and Gordon Wheeler of Webster City, Brenda Hand of Clarion; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; niece, Evelyn Burnett of Webster City and nephew George (Dick) Hope of Cannon City, Colo. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, George Hope; sisters, Mabel Lacy, Anna Beisner and Fern Keith; and three infant siblings.
