Harry Melvin Hillesland was born October 13, 1904, at Thor, Iowa, where his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Hillesland lived on a farm. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Thor. He was employed until diabetes, arthritis, and hardening of the arteries prevented his working. On Saturday morning, July 2, he had a stroke and died Monday evening, July 4, 1966. His parents; one sister, Emma; and brother, Peter, preceded him in death. He is survived by two sisters, (Ida) Mrs. Emron Myers, Nelson. Minn., (Bess) Mrs. A. Emil Wickre, St. Paul, Minn.; two brothers, Edward J.; Forest City, Iowa, Lewis J., Nelson, Minn.; eleven nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. Memorials may be sent to the Ullensvang Lutheran Church at Thor. Iowa. Funeral services were held at the Mueller-Bies Funeral Home St. Paul. Pastor Robert L. Anderson, pastor of St. Anthony Park Church, St. Paul officiated. Pastor Hoyme, pastor of Our Saviour's Church, Minneapolis, also spoke. Pallbearers were nephews, Dennis Hillesland, Spring Valley, Minn.; Jon Hillesland, Sheldon, Iowa; David Bruns, Fertile, Iowa; Carroll Hillesland, Minneapolis; Larry Hillesland, Minneapolis, Minn.; and Ricky Wickre, St. Paul, Minn. Honorary pallbearer was another nephew, Roy Bilyeu, Mason City, Iowa. Interment was at Elmhurst Cemetery, St. Paul.
