June 1, 1856 ---- October 15, 1923
Martha McClement was born June 1, 1856, about 30 miles from Milwaukee near the town of Barton, Wis., being the third daughter of William and Mary Thompson McClement. Both of her parents were of Scotch-Irish ancestry. At the age of 17 she entered high school in Milwaukee and fitted herself for the position of teaching. Soon after this, the family moved to Wright county, Iowa, settling near Rowan. There she began teaching and continued in that field of work until January, 1878, when she was married to Myron T. Andrews of that vicinity. In March, 1883, they moved from Iowa to a homestead near Iroquois [South Dakota] when they moved to a farm eight miles northeast of Huron, which Mrs. Andrews still owned at the time of her death. About 13 years ago they retired from the farm and bought their home at 936 Wisconsin Ave. where Mr. Andrews died in January, 1922. Funeral services for Mrs. Andrews were held at the congregational church she having been for many years a faithful worker in that church.
