Rites Held for L. L. Speedling, 63
RETIRED CLARION CHIEF OF POLICE

Funeral services for L. L. Speedling, 63, retired chief of police of Clarion, were held at 2 p. m. Saturday at the Eyler Funeral home. Mr. Speedling died Thursday afternoon at the Clarion Community Memorial Hospital following a long illness. Mr. Speedling was associated with the Clarion Police Department for 30 years, 20 of which he served as chief. For two years he worked as a special agent in Fort Dodge and Omaha, Nebr. for the Chicago Great Western Railroad. He retired as police chief last year. He is survived by his widow, Naomi; one son, Ben, West Union; one daughter, Mrs. Don Schuster, Thor; two grandchildren; two brothers, James, California, and Floyd, Nashua; and three sisters, Mrs. Maxine Carr and Mrs. Clara Bevard, both of Waterloo, and Mrs. Eugene Wasta, San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Speedling was a member of the Church of Christ, the Wright County Peace Officers Association and the State Peace Officers Association.
