After an illness extending over two years, Myron Hill, 66, prominent Grant township farmer for many years until retiring three years ago to make his home in Clarion, died Sunday morning. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church, Rev. Harvey C. Travis officiating. Burial was in Clarion Evergreen cemetery.
The son of George J. and Jessie Stockwell Hill, he was born in Grant township Sept 16, 1888. He was graduated from Clarion high school in 1908. He was married to Julia Woodin Nov. 20, 1911. During his active years, he was elected to several responsible positions. He served as chairman of the Wright County Rural Electric Cooperative board for 15 years. He also served as president of the Federated Cooperative Power association from March 2, 1945, until the time of consolidation with the Central Electric Federated Cooperative association to form the Cornbelt Power Cooperative. He was elected to the board of that cooperative in February, 1951, and served in that capacity until his resignation due to illness. He was chairman of the original AAA program and a past president of the Wright County Farm Bureau. He was a member of the Mason lodge and the Order of Eastern Star.
Surviving are his wife; two sons and one daughter, Dale Hill and Myron Hill Jr., both of Clarion, Mrs. Earl Odland Jr. of Holmes; six grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters, Harland Hill and Mrs. Howard Woodin of Clarion, Lee Hill of Sumner, Gerald Hill of Sioux Falls, S. D„ and Mrs. Adelia MacBeth of Lehigh.
