Carolyn Rae Schipper, age 56, of Aplington, Iowa, was born the daughter of Fred and Marcia (Sherburne) Schipper on October 26, 1959, in Waterloo, Iowa. She attended Aplington High School and later Ackley-Geneva High School, where she graduated in 1978. After graduation, Carolyn attended American Institute of Commerce in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Carolyn worked at the Big Chief, Grand JiVanté, Heartland Windows, Presbyterian Village, and at the time of her death she worked at Maple Manor.

On March 26, 1977, Carolyn was united in marriage with Garry Bolhuis at Bethel Reformed Church in rural Aplington. After their marriage, they first resided in Ackley then moved to Aplington. They divorced in 1989. Carolyn moved to Ackley and in 1992, she was united in marriage with Robert French. After their divorce in 2010, Carolyn moved to Aplington.

Carolyn was a member of Bethel Reformed Church in rural Aplington. She enjoyed flowers, cooking and baking. Carolyn’s greatest joy was spoiling her grandkids and watching them in their activities and their sports.

Carolyn died Sunday, July 3, 2016, in rural Dows, Iowa. Carolyn is preceded in death by her son Jonathan Bolhuis and her father, Fred Schipper. Carolyn is survived by two sons, Joshua (Tracie) Bolhuis of Dows and Justin (Heidi) Bolhuis of Aplington; a daughter-in-law, Roxanne Bolhuis of Ackley; eight grandchildren, Brittany Reints, Tyler (Ashley) Reints, Tyson Larsen, Jordan Larsen, Carley Bolhuis, Keegan, Joclyn and Shonna Bolhuis; six great-grandchildren and one more on the way; her mother, Marcia Schipper of Aplington; her parents-in-law, Fred and Eunice Bolhuis of Aplington; two brothers, Brent (Candi) Schipper of Aplington, and Corey (Laurie) Schipper of Parkersburg; one sister, Vickie (Mark) Mulford of Aplington and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 9, 2016, at Bethel Reformed Church, with burial in the Bethel Reformed Church Cemetery, both rural Aplington. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, at Bethel Reformed Church in rural Aplington and one hour before services at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
