Bertha “Bert” Odette Peck passed away on July 10, 2016 in Reno, Nevada at the age of 96. She was born June 14, 1920 near Woolstock, Iowa to Adolph and Sophie (Grandgeorge) Hisler. Bert attended country schools near Woolstock and married her childhood sweetheart, Frank E. Peck, Jr. on August 13, 1938. Bert and Frank ran the family farm in Wall Lake Township for many years until Frank’s death in 1963, after which she farmed with her son, Larry Peck. Bert was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Clarion where she was active in Ladies’ Circle, attended Woolstock Senior Citizens Group, and participated in the Farmers’ Wives Club of her former neighbors. She lived at The Meadows Independent Living in Clarion, Iowa with many lifelong friends for the last decade before moving to Reno in early 2016 to be with her family. She is survived by her daughter Loretta Houston (Rob), grandson Dr. Jeffrey Houston, sister-in-law Lillie Gronbeck, numerous nieces and nephews, and best friends Marguerite Wagner and Alyce Erickson. Bert was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, son Larry, daughter-in-law Karolyn Kay (Campbell) Peck, brothers Charles “Jack,” Victor, and Robert; and sister Julia. Inurnment will be in Blairsburg Cemetery in Blairsburg, Iowa.
