Gretchen Rogness Funeral Tuesday At Sacred Heart Church

Funeral services for Mrs. Gretchen Rogness, 61, were held Tuesday morning at 9:30 in Sacred Heart Catholic church with Rev. Francis Phelan celebrant at the solemn requiem high mass. Deacons of the mass were Rev. James Slowey of Clarion and Rev. Thomas O'Toole of Corwith. Interment was in Calvary cemetery. Casket bearers were John Moklebust of Thor, George Wright, Matt Thielen, Lawrence McDermott, Elwood Gray and John Plunkett.

Mrs. Rogness died Friday, Feb. 14 in Mercy hospital, Fort Dodge where she had been a patient since early in January. She had been in poor health for almost a year since she had major surgery in the spring of 1963. She is survived by one daughter Mrs. David Weiler of Fargo, N. D., one son Thomas of Eagle Grove, a grandchild Mark Weiler, one sister and one brother Miss Pauline Kubitschek of Eagle Grove and Karl Kubitschek of Lincoln, Neb.

Mrs. Rogness, the former Gretchen Kubitschek, had lived in this area all her life. She was graduated from Sacred Heart high school and attended Mt. St. Clara, Sinsinawa, Wis. She was a violin teacher here for many years and employed in the Vincent Savings Bank. In 1934 she was married to Levi Rogness of Thor. Mr. Rogness died in 1954 and in 1956 Mrs. Rogness and daughter and son moved back to Eagle Grove to make their home. For several years she had been employed at the Thor Elevator in Thor, as bookkeeper She was preceded in death by her husband, one son James, and her parents Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Kubitschek. Her father was a long time Eagle Grove business man, for many years in the Kubitschek Brothers furniture store, and later associated, in the Kubitschek and Kastler Funeral Home.
