Charles A. Hilpipre, 94, Clarion, died on Saturday evening, May 16, 1992 at Los Gatos Community Hospital in Los Gatos, California. He had been in California since December 22,1991 visiting his son, Carroll. Funeral services were held from First Lutheran Church in Clarion on May 21. Rev. William Granger officiated and burial was in Evergreen Cemetery at Clarion. The Willim Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Casket bearers were: Craig Kenneth, Lisa and Todd Hilpipre, Jay Burgardt and Tony Rink. Joan Voigts was the organist and Ann Case the vocalist.

Charles Hilpipre was born on December 15, 1897, on a farm near Williams and was the son of Gustav and Emma Hazeman Hilpipre. He grew to manhood in the area of his birth. He had farmed all of his life south of Clarion and was well known in the area as an auctioneer. He had his first sale when he was nineteen and worked his last sale, with his son, Mervyn, on December 20, 1990 at the age of 92. On June 6, 1946 he married Ellen Dahlgren Denby at Mason City. She died in 1987.

Survivors include: four sons: Lloyd of Perry, Merle of Clarion, Carroll of San Jose, CA. and Mervyn of Cedar Falls; two step-daughters: Leora Fayville of Black Duck, MN. and Donna Wehrle of Boone, 17 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; a brother Ed of Clarion and three sisters: Marie Potter of Clarion; Theresa Foster of Phoenix, AZ. and Neva Bruhl of Clarion. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers: Wesley, Raymond and Albert and one sister Josie Loux. He was a member of First Lutheran Church.
