December 24, 1890 ---- February 23, 1918

The death of Oscar Gunderson occurred in this city last Saturday Feb. 23, 1918, of tuberculosis, after an ailment and illness that covered several years. Funeral service were held from the Wright street Lutheran church, on Wednesday, the sermon being by the pastor, Rev. T. J. Severtson. The pall bearers were Peter Hoveland, Martin Cleveland, Olaf Midland, Nels O. Roseland, Fred Foll, and L. W. Worthington.

Oscar M. Gunderson was born in Elmore, Minn., Dec. 24, 1890. The family lived there but a short time, moving then to Eagle Grove. Oscar attended our public schools and was graduated with the class of 1908, following which he attended St. Olaf College two terms. He then accepted employment with the Citizens Light, Heat & Power Company of Eagle Grove and remained with them two years. He then formed a partnership with Fred Foil in the Electric Shop. His health, failing him in 1916 he went to Albuquerque, N.M. He obtained only temporary relief, however, and he returned to Eagle Grove last fall. He was married Oct. 22, 1913 to Anna Stensland of this city. He is survived by his wife and one son, Robert t two and one half years of age and by his parents, five brothers, and one sister.

Oscar was a man of many friends, genial, of kindly disposition, and was devoted to his family and home.
