December 17, 1863 ---- September 1, 1946

Charles O. Schwenck, 82, died at Mercy hospital, For Dodge, at 2:30 a. m., Sunday, September 1. Mr. Schwenck had been in failing health for several years and two days prior to his death was taken to the hospital for care and treatment.

Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral Home with the Rev. Clarence W. Tompkins in charge. Frank Wells was the soloist at the funeral with Mrs. George DeForest accompanist. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Obituary

Charles Otto Schwenck was born at Lake City, Minn., on December 17, 1863, the son of Hyacinth and Elizabeth Benz Schwenck. He came to Iowa as a small boy in a covered wagon and settled on the old home place where he spent his last years. He was married to Annie Senty of Humboldt, November 20, 1888, and to their home there came two children, Mrs. Amy Vorre of Eagle Grove and Sumner also of Eagle Grove.

He moved onto the place south of the cemetery on August 16, 1900.

He was a supervisor for two terms, and chairman for one year, a director of the Liberty bank, a farmer and stock buyer. He was instrumental in getting the "convalescent home" established for the county here in the old Fitzmaurice home. He was present at the first Methodist service in the first Methodist building in Eagle Grove and at the Fiftieth anniversary program.

He leaves his children and one sister, Louisa Martfeld, and three brothers, John of Luseland, Sask., Canada, Ed of Eagle Grove, and Horace of Livermore.
