January 22, 1866 ---- October 16, 1931

Fred Bowen, former Eagle Grove citizen, died at his home at Maxwell, Iowa, last Saturday morning. He was 65 years of age. He left Eagle Grove about twenty years ago. He was a clerk in the trainmaster's office. Since moving to Maxwell, he has been engaged in carpenter work. Funeral services were held at Maxwell at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gladys Allen. Burial took place Monday afternoon at Rose Hill cemetery where the Masonic funeral service was given. Mrs. Bowen was buried here several years ago where two children are also buried.

Surviving Mr. Bowen are five children. They are, Mrs. Mary Underhill of Beloit, Wis., Mrs. Leora Larson, Chicago, Ill., Clare Bowen, Belvidere, Ill., Ted Bowen, Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Gladys Allen, Maxwell. About twenty-five people comprised the funeral party which accompanied the remains from Maxwell. Mr. Bowen was well known and well liked here and there is genuine regret felt over his untimely passing. The surviving children have the sympathy of their many friends here.
