Floyd A. Willey, 91, of Fort Dodge went home to join his heavenly Father on Friday, June 17, 2016, at Trinity Regional Medical Center. The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Otho-Kalo Community Church. The burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion. Arrangements have been entrusted with Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Floyd was born in Eagle Grove on Oct. 20, 1924, to Clarence and Hazel (Peterson) Willey. He graduated from Vernon Consolidated School in Renwick and went on to attend Iowa State University. He then joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1943-46. Floyd married Jaunel Cramer on June 21, 1947, and they farmed in the Clarion area for 33 years, where he was a longtime member of the Clarion VFW. They moved to California, where Floyd attended the school of ministry, and then moved to the Dows for a brief time until Jaunel passed away in 1984. Floyd moved to Fort Dodge and married Joan Shepherd on Feb. 9, 1985, in Fort Dodge. He was a member of the Otho-Kalo Community Church, where he served as the assistant pastor for several years. He loved spending time with his family and also enjoyed genealogy.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Sandy (Steve) Kadolph and Steve (Jean) Willey, and step-son, Kenneth (Ellen) Shepherd; six grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Rosemary Newman and Dwight (Ruth) Willey.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Hazel; wife, Jaunel; his siblings, Ralph Willey and Beulah Willey; and step-sons, Michael White and James Shepherd.
