A long-time resident and esteemed business man of Tipton was summoned Saturday p.m. at the St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids, where he had been taken several days previously in hope of surgical help. His many friends in this community were grieved at news of his passing.
John Decker Hamilton was born in Oberlin, Kansas, May 15, 1886, the son of John and Sarah Hamilton. He passed away July 26, 1952, in St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a short illness. He attained the age of 66 years, 2 months and 11 days. He came to this community in 1908 and has been employed by the Tipton branch of the Iowa State Telephone Co. for the past 44 years being its manager for the past three years.
He was united in marriage to Miss Ruth Morehead, Sept. 22, 1911, at Clarion, Iowa. To this union were born two children, John and Arlene. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, one son Major John Hamilton with the Army Air force, overseas, one daughter Arlene Kindle of Davenport and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. July 29, 1952, at the Sheets funeral home in Tipton, Rev. A. C. Long of the Tipton Methodist church officiating, and burial in Tipton Masonic cemetery.
